WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM YOU
1. Information you provide to us
We receive and may store any information you enter on our website or give us in any other way. This information may include “Personal Information” (namely, information that can identify you, such as name, email address, username, and password), and demographic or other information (such as your school, gender, age, address, interests, and preferences). We may also collect payment information, if you opt to purchase products or services through our services. You can choose not to provide information to us, but some information is required in order for you to enjoy the benefits of being a registered member. For example, only registered members can ask questions in our forums or initiate coaching sessions. In addition, some information may be required in order for us to provide you with full and relevant advice and provide you with services.
You have the opportunity to create a profile, which consists of Personal and non-Personal Information about you. Some of the information in your Profile may be visible to third parties or to everyone, depending on the nature of the information and on the privacy settings you choose. In order to provide opportunities to you, educational organizations, scholarship providers and other third parties may be able to review certain information in your Profile, even if you have not set that information to be public. Your Profile may also be indexed by and displayed by internet search providers when your name is searched. GradTrain does not control the frequency in which third parties’ search engines update themselves, and cannot control if the information they present is outdated for a period of time.
GradTrain may provide you with the opportunity to participate and post content publicly in forums and through other communication functionality, including question, answers, reviews, comments, testimonials, feedback, messages, images, videos, text or other materials. Such content may also be posted in your Profile. You may edit or remove such content from your profile, but you may not be able to remove answers or postings or other uploaded material from the forum or other communication platforms. Note that anything you post to a forum may be considered public information.
GradTrain may also allow members to communicate and collaborate with each other. If you create an account, participate in a forum or choose to communicate with others through our services, certain information about you or your network may be disclosed (such as your and your connections’ name and profile photo, the languages you know, etc.). We allow other members to contact you through our service or through other contact information you may provide, such as your email address.
2. Information from other sources
You may opt to participate in third party services through GradTrain (such as log-in through Facebook Connect, or linking GradTrain services with another website) or on a third party web site or service (such as GradTrain Facebook applications) through which you allow us to collect (or the third party to share) information about you, including personal information. If you remove the application or feature from the third party services, we will no longer collect information about you through that third party, but we may retain the information previously collected. You may link your activity on GradTrain with a third party web site or service, which may then collect information about your visits to GradTrain and may publish that activity to that third party (such as if you choose to share a purchase you made on GradTrain with your connections on the third party platform).
In addition, we may receive information about you if users of a third party platform give us access to their profiles and you are one of their connections or information about you is accessible through the information they gave us access to.
3. Information about other People
You will have the opportunity to provide us with contact information of other people who you think can benefit from our services. You should obtain the consent of other individuals prior to providing us with their personal information.
If you purchase a gift certificate, we will automatically send the recipient an invitation to visit GradTrain, and their gift code. GradTrain stores information such as the gift certificate recipient's name and email address for the purpose of verification. GradTrain does not sell or disclose any of this information to any third parties and collects this information only to maintain records of the gift certificate.
In addition, we may offer referral features whereby members may invite friends to GradTrain. GradTrain stores invitees’ information for verification purposes, and in order to analyze the effectiveness of our referral program. GradTrain will not use those referred email addresses for any other purpose, unless the referred user registers as a member. The referred person may contact us at any time to request that we remove this information from our active database.
4. Automatic Information
We may automatically collect certain information about your computer or device and about your use of the service when you visit GradTrain. This information may include IP address or other device identifiers (i.e., a number that is automatically assigned to your Device used to access a Service), the browser and operating system you are using, the URL or advertisement that referred you to our Services, the search terms you entered into a search engine that lead you to GradTrain, the parts of our sites that you visit, ads you may view, and the time of day you visited us, among other information. Some mobile service providers may also provide us with information regarding the physical location of the device you used to access GradTrain services. Use of our services, like other programs and services, through a mobile device may cause data to be viewed by your mobile carrier or other access provider. GradTrain does not transfer this information and cannot control its collection by those third parties.
We may use such information for a variety of purposes, including to enhance our services to you, to serve advertisements, and to improve our service. Such information is generally non-identifying, but if we associate it with you as a specific and identifiable person, we treat it as Personal Information.
5. Tracking technologies
Your browser should tell you in the Toolbar how to prevent it from accepting new cookies, disable most of them, or notify you when you receive a new cookie. You can set your browser not to allow cookies, but you may not be able to use our services as fully as intended.
Web Beacons and Embedded Scripts: Web beacons (also known as clear gifs, pixel tags or Web bugs), are tiny graphics with a unique identifier which are placed in the code of a Web page. We (or our affiliate program partners, service providers, and other third parties) may use Web beacons to monitor the traffic patterns of members within our websites, in order to analyze and improve the quality and experience of our service. We (or our affiliate program partners, service providers, and other third parties) may also use Web beacons to help us understand which emails have been opened by recipients and to track traffic and measure the effectiveness of our content and other offerings. Embedded scripts are programming code, temporarily downloaded onto your computer or other device from our server or a third party service provider and is deactivated or deleted when you disconnect from the Services. We may use them to collect information about your activity on our website, such as the links you click on.
We may use a variety of other technologies that collect similar information for security and fraud detection purposes.
6. Voice and video recording and monitoring
We may record voice and video calls for the purposes of analytics, monitoring, and improving of our coaching and other services.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use information about you in order to register you, manage your account, communicate with you, provide services to you, tailor content, recommendations and offers to you, process transactions you initiate, send or display to you special offers or advertisements, improve our products and services, connect you to coaches and other members of the GradTrain community, allow other GradTrain members to contact you (and vice versa), provide you with location features and services, for internal business purposes, including the measurement of ad effectiveness, and for other purposes disclosed at the time you provide your information or otherwise with your consent.
We may create, facilitate or display social advertisements, which contain your name and profile photo in order to advertise products and services that you are using. You will be able to opt-out from social advertisements through your account settings for each and any such use.
Please also note that GradTrain content and widgets may be included on web pages and web sites that are not associated with us and over which we have no control. These third parties may independently collect data. GradTrain is not responsible for the privacy practices or business practices of any third party. We recommend that you examine the privacy statements posted on those other Web sites to understand their procedures for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information.
GradTrain does not share your contact information or Personal Information (email, address or phone number) with third parties for their marketing purposes without your consent. GradTrain may send you information and offers from third parties and information about our services. We may share non-Personal Information, such as aggregate user statistics and demographic information with third parties, including advertisers, content providers, and analytics providers. We are not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of third parties. If you decide that you no longer want to receive communications from a third party, you will need to contact that third party directly, even if we made the initial connection.
1. Third-party vendors.
We may also authorize third-party vendors who provide services or functions on our behalf, including business analytics, customer service, marketing, distribution, and fraud prevention, to collect information on our behalf. If you purchase any products or services, our billing partner will receive information needed to process your charges, including your postal and e-mail addresses, depending on your payment method. Third-party vendors may only collect information as needed to perform their functions and are not permitted to share or use the information for any other purpose.
2. Educational Institutions:
We may work with universities, scholarship providers and other educational institutions to help them and our members to find the right match. We may allow educational institutions to view information in your Profile (such as hometown, relevant credentials), if you opt in to allowing that. We will not share your contact information (email address, full postal address or phone number) with educational institutions without your consent, but we may send you information on their behalf.
3. Social media services and other website.
You can choose to access third party social media and other platforms through our site (such as Facebook). When doing so, you are sharing information with those platforms, and the information you share will be governed by their privacy policies.

HOW YOU CAN ACCESS AND CONTROL YOUR INFORMATION
We are doing our best to ensure that your information is updated and complete. You can review and update the information you provide to us on your profile at any time. You may also be able to limit the information you receive from us by adjusting your settings. However, we reserve the right to send you information on our behalf and on behalf of third parties as long as you are a GradTrain member.
If you wish to cancel your membership, please send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will (sadly) remove your profile from our active databases and send you a confirmation email within three business days.
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
We want you to feel confident regarding your use of GradTrain, and we take very seriously the protection of your personal information. While no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, we have implemented reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical security procedures to help protect your personal information, including authorizations, encryption, firewalls and intrusion detection systems to prevent unauthorized persons from gaining access to your information. Our services are intended to prospective graduate students. They are not intended for, marketed to or available to individuals younger than the age of 13, and individuals younger than the age of 13 should not submit information to us.
CONSENT TO TRANSFER
Information we collect may be transferred to and processed in different jurisdictions, among which privacy laws may vary. By using the Services, or providing us with any information, you fully understand and unambiguously consent to the transfer, processing and storage of your information in jurisdictions in which the privacy laws may not be as comprehensive or robust as those in the country where you reside or are a citizen. By using our services, you understand that your information may be transferred to our facilities and those third parties with whom we share it as described in this Policy.
YOUR CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
